On my Grabber I am having some trouble getting fuel to the carb. It had been sitting for a while before I bought it and was low on fuel. Anyway, now it has 5 gallons of gas, and it will start and run when I put some fuel in the carb but after it uses up that gas it stops, obviously. Here is where my problem lies. I made sure the fuel line from the tank to the pump was clear by siphoning the fuel all the way to the engine bay, so there is gas all the way there now. Then I checked the line from the pump to the carb by blowing through it. No obstructions. Anyway, I then attached a hose before the carb and routed it to a can so I could see if it was pumping anything. It was. Cool. I hooked it up to the carb and nothing happened. I took it off and checked but there was no fuel in the carb of the line right next to the carb. Now it won't pump the gas anymore. I have a feeling that the pump is crap because when ever there is some pressure on it it doesn't have enough suds to pump it into the carb, but unhooked it does fine. The carb is clean with no restrictions. What do you guys think? What else should I check. I hate to put a new pump on an engine that I will yank eventually, but pumps are only around $20 so I might as well. Thanks for any input, and sorry for the long post.

its sounds like it might be a stuck needle in the seat. Rap on the carb near the needle with the handle of a screw driver (pretty hard but dont hurt it). Other than that all I can think of is a bad float level or pump. If you have been working on the fuel line, it is usually the needle and seat.

crud in the tank can clog the filter on the in tank pickup. lets a little thru , but not enought to really run the engine.

I was thinking of that, but it squirted a lot of fuel when not hooked to the carb. I guess I'll take it apart tomorrow and see what I can do with the needle and seat, and other internals. Thanks guys.

hey corbin what kind of carb do you have? if you are running a factory carb there is a fuel filter that screws into the fuel inlet on the carb. the fuel line screws into it. it looks like a witches hat. i ran into the same problem with an old mustang II i used to have and once i replaced that filter it was fine......good luck

It's the factory carb on the 200. The filter seems to be okay. I can blow through it very well.... But who knows - I'll try a filter too. Thanks! I'll let you know of any updates tomorrow evening.

corbin, sorry to hear you got a problem. sounds like a sticking needel to me. have an 8n ford tractor that does the same thing. everytime i crank it i go to the carb and tap it. it sticks 6 out of 10 times so i tap it every time.
if you put a press. gauge on the fuel line going to the carb. you can tell if it is holding press. j.m.o. ...frank...:bananaman :bananaman

if you dissconnect the filter from the carb, do you get pretty much the same amount of gas as you do when you remove the gas line from the filter? if not, get a new filter. other wise, like the guys said, stuck or needle valve or bad float height . best of luck.

    Hey Guys,
The problem is fixed! Thanks! I took of the top of the fuel bowl and broke the needle loose and checked out everything. I then filled up the bowl with gas and fired her up! Works great now! Pretty good for sitting for a couple years.... It's kind of worn out, but at least it moves now. Thanks again for exactly the right answer for the problem. :)
