I was wondering since I have a 1969 1/2 maverick, and they dont reproduce the gas tank... (the guy who had it before me took it out due to it leaking) Has anybody gone the route of a fuel cell instead?? If yes, what goes into it....? I dont know what I am going to do about the fuel tank otherwise....:hmmm:

    Any Ideas would be great

    Thanks

    Diana

If you have some fabrication skills, it wouldnt take a whole lot to drop in a Mustang tank. I took some measurments and came up with the following. The Mustang tank is about 5 3/4" narrower front to back. I dont have a tank out of a car so I dont know how much offset would be in the front and how much in the back, but, making the cutout narrower would be a piece of cake. Side to side the mustang tank is 5" wider. Most if not all offset would need to go to the right side of the Maverick cut out. So you would only have to cut out the right drop and reweld it 5" more to the right. Then make filler panels for the right cornors. If I can find a used mustang tank, I will make the mod in the 69.5 in my garage and let you know. I believe this should be a fairly easy mod if you have access to a welder.

Didn't mean to get off subject, I have just been reading a few of your posts that are page one.
I wish I could answer you on the fuel cell question. I intend to go this route, but haven't done it yet...

Fuel cells have their own little crappy stuff. Like you gotta raise the deck lid to refuel and stuff. And if a dead body falls outta your trunk at the 7-11,,,,,someone might see. I think some good advice has been given above.
