road up to Atl. and picked up Jeff. we then went to Earls to help him do some trouble shooting on his car. ...316 miles round trip... we got his car running ... Earl took us out to eat...thanks for lunch...:Handshake "A Large Time Was Had By All""
Appeared to be an ignition switch problem, but who knows. We put it back together and it worked. We tested and took voltage readings before starting it up. Still good, no problems so far.
Everett; Didn't replace it, just reinstalled the same one, after taking a look at the connections, etc. Strange!!! BTW, you coming to the Roundup this year?
I hope to make the RU this year. If all goes well I plan on attending. I need to make my reservations. Im going to do it today. I need to look at my ign. switch - the car will run in the accessory position.
Everett, change it out before it bites you. Mine cost me two distributers and a few coils before we found what it was. See you in July!
are you saying...when you turn the key through off to acc. it doesn't shut the engine off? do you want Jeff and Earl to come up and take a look at it for you?...
Mine does that too sometimes. I used to pull the coil wire to shut it off. I have installed a switch in the ignition wire so I dont look stupid turning the car off. Hasn't done it awhile, any ideas? I should tell you I dont have the factory ignition switch anymore, I have a universal switch on the dash.
Sounds like a soleniod problem. I had mine do that once, went thru 4 switches at an Autozone before I got one that worked. BTW, why don't you come with us Frank, Everett lives in Chicago!
I took the positive wire from the coil, ran it to a switch on the dash, then back. I suppose it can also be an anti theft device, lol.
