This time, the recipient is the top dog Shelby GT500. The big news isn't really that big at all in the grand scheme of things. The Red Stripe Appearance Package consists of a black or white GT500 with -- you guessed it -- red stripes on the hood, roof, and side of the car. The interior gets in on the act, too, with red inserts on black leather seats, plus premium carpeting and floormats featuring a silver-and-red Cobra logo. The package costs $1,650 and for that price, buyers also get a Shelby car cover included as a throw-in. The Red Stripe Appearance Package will be produced beginning on May 7th. Call us crazy, but given the number of color/stripe combinations available for the GT500 as it is, we can't imagine ponying up (no pun intended) another $1,650 for the privilege of having red ones. This goes to show you just how powerful the Mustang is as a marketing platform for Ford. They'll probably sell a bunch of these.
