hey all. i was approached with an idea for our silver springs meet that would be nice to accomplish. holly and rocky (cre8ivpro) live in ocala fl. and there was a recent school bus/ semi collision that injured 8 school children and killed 1 young girl. this is a link to the news report concerning the accident. http://www.ocala.com/article/20080924/NEWS/809242012. well, rocky suggested that we make our mini meet a benefit for the family that lost this young girl. he has offered to open his home after the show on saturday to have a B.B.Q. dinner (everyone share cost) and take up a collection that we can present to this family in the name of the M.C.C.I club and MCG OR CAMEO if they want chose to help. I think it is a good idea. We can show someone else the friendship and support that this webpage has become known for. anyone interested in doing this? i know some will go the coutangmans show and that is fine. we accept donations. haha if there is enough interest holly, rocky, and i will get things organized. here are a few more links about this. Here's a couple more links re: Margay http://www.ocala.com/article/20080924/NEWS/809241994 http://www.ocala.com/article/20080929/NEWS/809290299 Also, here's a link with regard to another family's children (that survived), a car show benefit: http://www.ocala.com/article/2008100...d_by_bus_crash
Thanks, Jason... and to let y'all know we did participate in that benefit show yesterday for the Arbuckle family (sorry no pics, forgot the camera in our rush to get there)... the mother of the girlie that perished was there supporting the event and spoke on behalf of the family and their girlie that was in critical condition, but now out and was there... God bless. Her mom is a single mother of 3 children, all of whom were on that bus that day. A fund has been established for Margay Schee's (the girl that died) siblings' education at a local bank. We cannot express how touched we were with her mom's call for help for this other family touched by this terrible tragedy. We can't imagine how she's able to accomplish all that she's done, other than with the power of God behind her. That, and the love and faith of her community and supporters, such as car clubs, etc. If there's an interest, we're more than happy to coordinate with Jason's help something that would be fun and mutually rewarding. Holly & Rocky
I think it great that you folks would be trying to do something for a family affected by a tragedy, such as this one. Any time a young life is cut short is a terrible thing. At our Mustang club's show 9/27, there was a special remembering of a young man killed in a car wreck. He had just finished his Mustang and it was too powerful for him and he crashed it. He was from Plant City. After the show, there was a benefit in Ocala for the above mentioned young girl. The community has had a huge outpouring of help and money donated to the family. There was also the beforementioned one at NPD for the other family. I salute anyone who champions these efforts. I would like to attend myself but am commited to the other event. The BBQ on Sat. night is not my show, rather it a coordinated one between NPD and our Mustang club. It was an idea of Ron Bringle, our Pres. and is a natural addition to the Silver Springs weekend. I am looking forward to meeting new faces from the Maverick community over the weekend. See you there. Jim
I would like to show up but I will have to see how things go closer to that time. At the very least I could send a donation in.
well, after 92 views and 2 responses i get the impression that this is not a wanted idea/plan. oh well, it was a good idea anyway.
I like the idea of helping the family, we should check into rasing funds at the cfmc/npd BBQ. I'm sure if you ask the club will be ok with it. There is going to be a lot of people at the get together... Ken
