I need a new Gas Tank for my 1974 Maverick. I remember reading that the Maverick Gas Tanks aren't being made any more, so how do I replace my Gas Tank? Will a Mustang Gas Tank fit? If so, what year?

I did read the Gas Tank mod that is on the main page, but I don't have some of the tools required to make it happen.

http://www.classicautoparts.com/ - They have a store in the city here, if anyone here can tell me what Gas Tank will fit a 1974 Maverick, I'll order it today. I'd like to order today, so I can put it on this weekend. Walking to work is really getting old, haha.

    And my second question:

What size tires will fit on the rims that came with the Maverick? Looking for new rims isn't that easy, so I'm holding off for a while, but I still need the tires.

I am sorry if these are all old questions. For some odd reason this site is loading VERY slow for me. Anyone else having problems with slow load times for this site? Probably just me.

Thanks a lot for the help, guys.

shoestring if you don't get the answer about the gas tank your looking for let me know I have an almost new tank that came out of my 72 Mav. But I believe it is for a newer Mav. I don't think they make the older tanks anymore. Hows about $50.00 plus shipping.

69.5/70 are the only ones with a drop in gas tank. All the rest mount under the car.

The 74 tank should be the same as the 71-73. UNless they changed them in mid year.

Just, Eddie. Thanks for the offers. I'll be sure to take one of you up on the offer if I am not able to find a new one, I don't care if it's for a Maverick or not.

So noone knows what Gas Tanks will fit on the '74 Maverick? I don't care if it's a Maverick Gas Tank or not, just as long as it fits and is rust-free...that's my problem now.

If there is one, please share with me. It'd make me a very happy person.

Thanks for the help/info. Take care.
