I've tried to buy a 1971 Mercury Comet, straight six, auto for about 2 years now. The kid that owns the car has been doing some body work on it with his dad and it seems to have lost interest in it. The car is a nice project and now that I'm looking to go a different direction he want to trade it to me for my 1985 Mustang, four banger, auto project I was going to do. If I was to trade for it, it would become a pro street car with a small block ford engine with a auto.

The problem I'm having is what front end mods I can do to it and how fast can I go with that front end in the quarter. I would like to go 8.50 in the quarter. :drive: Also will a 302 with yates heads fit in there?
    Thanks King

302's came in those cars... they fit easily. Shock tower modifications would be suggested for better clearance, but not necessary.

As far as the front end, there's not a lot to do to the stock front end, but Ive seen/heard of these cars going pretty quick w/ the stock front end. A Mustang II front end will go in nicely and has been done several times. (do a search)
