I need a new fan shroud for my Comet, does anyone know where I can order one? I kinda want one in aluminum or something shiny like that
I ordered one from JC Whitney a long time ago. You can kinda see it here. I don't know if they still have it but we can find out.
I still need to put this one in. It's "shiny" (chrome). Couple of guys said it didn't do the job. I also have the three row aluminum radiator so hopefuly it will work for me.
I have the 3row rad and new 2500cfm fan w/ 180stat control, and it seems to do the job. So far I have not seen temps over 210 on hot days (90+) at train crossing. I think it will do the job unless u running radical engine. I have mild 302 w/ 600cfm. I did'nt enclose the fan, at least not yet.
Like this? http://www.jcwhitney.com/chrome-plated-universal-fan-shroud/p2000845.jcwx# That chromed fan is sexy I'm going to mount 2x 8" fans in front of the radiator (on each side of the hood-lock), in addition to the original fan on the engine. Guess I'll have to change the radiator with an aluminum one in the future as well I like it shiny
I don't know what I should call my engine, I'm kinda new to american cars (mostly been tinkering with european cars).. 302 +.040, kb pistons, 500 lift hyd cam (comp cams), edelbrock rpm performer intake, "1969 ford heads", holley 650, "long tube headers", at least that is what the previous said I guess I would call it a mild engine?
That's the one. I just don't like that it is open at the bottom. I have seen dual fan assymblies somewhere.. Can't remember where .. I have also seen a aluminum radiator that comes with a fan and is very reasonable, but it wasn't chrome.
all that seems like over kill, why not just run one of these??? http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=43847
Yeah, I was kinda wanting an aluminum replica of the original fan shroud. Dual fans probably won't fit, because the hood-lock is in the way
The parts dealer I ordered the 8" fans from only had one in stock, and wouldn't be getting any more for several months.. So it looks like I'll be running just one 8" fan for starters.. The reason I want 2 fans is mostly to get a more symmetrical look, but the extra cooling doesn't hurt either I've had a quite a few cars where the fan didn't work now, and I have to say; sitting in traffic with the heater on max, hoping that the car won't overheat, in the middle of summer really sucks
I agree. I wud'nt drive a car I had to run the heater in the summer. It must not get to hot in ur part of the world or ur very tolerant to how wx. We got to 93* (34c) here today. I wud be baked if I had to run some heat to keep the car cool. I wud leave it parked.
Only one way to really find out. I wud scuff the surface well, clean it gud and paint it. I don't see where u have nothing to loose. JMO
25-30 degrees celsius isn't uncommon here during summer.. I also forgot that the power window on the drivers side didn't work on the one i had last summer either.. Imagine sitting in that with the heater on max in 25-30c
