    I have a 70 maverick 6 cylinder w/ factory indash AC.

What is the best way to remove evaporator coil? Can it be done from outside the fire-wall.

I bought a coil on e-bay but how do I know if its the correct one, I hate to tear mine down w/o knowing the one I have is the correct one.

it isnt easy but it can be done without taking the dash out. Just remove the center vent then you can take off the difuser hoses and take out the difuser, remove the package tray, evac the system if it has any freon left in it, remove the high and low pressure lines from the valve block and the heater hoses in the engine compartment. Now you need to remove all the vacume lines. if you do not have a diogram then you need to draw a picture and mark all the vac lines to where they go. then you can unbolt the heater box. There are bolts both inside the car and in the engine compartment. when you get the box loose then you can get to the electrical connections and remove the heater box. After you get it out of the car then you can take the box apart and change the evap core. A suggestion is to replace the heater core while you are there or at least check it and make sure it is in good shape. then just assemble it the pooisit way you took it apart. It wont be a 2 hour job so make sure you have the time to do it if you drive the car every day. i may have forgotten some steps but once you get in there you will be able to figure it out. Hope that helps.
