Is it possible to get this sound in a classic car? I've only heard it on late model stangs/camaros/corvettes with a loudmouth exhaust. Like where resonators are used after the axles instead of mufflers. I've been to many car shows and i've never heard a classic car with that crackle note. I'm wanting that sound for my wifes classic mustang. I already have mid lenght headers for it, X pipe and a 2.25 piping kit that i need to weld up.... So is it possible to get that crackle sound(kind of sounds like a wood fire crackle)? The engine is a roller 302 with a B cam and holley carb.
Nothing crackles much more than a set of Glasspacks with full tailpipes.Definately not my favorite but to each is own. Spend some time on youtube there are hundereds of exhaust vids like this one.
i belive a large part of the noise is due to the fuel injections managing the fuel. when deceleratinging the computer turns off the fuel. i belive that they may pulse the injectors a little bit but not much and that what creates that sound
I was wondering if fuel injection had a part in it. Since i've only heard late model cars with that certain sound. Yeah thats not the sound at all that i'm looking for. Glasspacks are just too deep sounding with a horrible almost fart sounding rasp. I'm looking for a cleaner more high pitched rasp. I found a set of SLP resonators for sale so hopefully those will work. Since they are the ones used in their loudmouth kit.
i dont have any vids of it but i got my mav 2 sound like that it had glasspacks and i too didnt like the sound so i cut the 24 inch long muffler at each end and took all of the baffling and packing out after it was installed back on the car it sounded alot like my neighbors srt8 challenger with a slp loudmouth
