i just got a 76 mav. 4 door with a 250-I6 engine...i was wondering whether i should swap a 302 in it or just rebuild the 250...any suggestions?? and does any1 know where i can buy parts for my mav.
My personal first choice when needing parts is either the MCCI shorthorns newsletter or ebay. If you are very mechanically inclined go for the 302 swap, but you will need a parts car to get the job done easily. Keep it simple and rebuild the 250. What kind of hp do you want ? is it going to be a every day driver or a weekend car ? how much $$$ do you want to spend ?
well i'm goin to be driving it everyday but i want it to have some juice, as far as money is concerned first i got to get a job i'm just askin for future references...thanks for the replies though...i really need a dash panel first on mine the plastic where it bolts on to the cover is all rotted adn broken i didn't know that until i was lookin for a short in the dash wires...
go to www.fordsix.com and www.fordsixparts.com and look around if you still think you need a 302 then all ya got to do is get the crossmember and engin mounts
and exhaust manifolds, v8 throttle cable, if you have power steering, maybe new lines and you will need brackets, pwr steering, alternator, if you have a/c then add that bracket too. Then add the price of fitting you old exhaust to hook to your new exhaust. But all is easy enuff to do if you have all the parts. Dan
