Engine paint color

    I am going to paint my engine and engine compartment soon, and I need to know what engine color was used in 1969 and 1970. I think it changed from dark Ford blue to bright Ford blue, but not sure. Any help is appreciated. :)

    I'm about to be paiting my engine bay soon as well!I have a 73 and I was thinking of painting my engine bay black since my block is black and old ford blue..what color do you guys recommed I use on mine?

    Engine compartment would be Semi-Gloss Black or body color depending upon the assembly plant, but "Baby Blue" Ford engines, just don't look right...

    Oh they look right if done correct. With how light my car is, the engine was too dark for me. So I went with the lighter blue engine. It would have looked to dark I think.

    See I was thinking more like a semi gloss black or the color of that air cleaner..That air cleaner color is "Old Ford Blue" right?

    The darker blue is the best looking imho

    Earl my 4 door engine is painted in the "old ford blue"

    Think I want to keep the engine bay black...easier to keep looking good and easier to touch up if needed. Lots to consider. Thanks for the input.:dance:

    Advantage to have a 70 the engine bays were all black.

    What is the best paint to get for this? I have used lots of engine paints, and most of them blister and go away in a short while. Is Bill Hirsch a good brand?
