I was thinking about putting in an electronic ignition, but before I do, I want to know what you guys think... good - bad - and everything in between.
I have heard they can be really beneficial, but could lead to more problems...

Any infomation would help. If anyone knows about how much I could do this for and how difficult it might be, let me know.

    Thanks!

Unless you're looking for serious performance gains, I'd go buy a Pertronix kit from the parts house. It goes in your existing distributor in place of your points and makes a tremendous improvement. It's also very trouble free and only about $80 and very easy to install.

Awesome... thanks guys! thats a huge help!!

I was also thinking about putting a new distributer in because I think mine is still the original... kinda wobbly.

I had some major issues with my car misfiring a few weeks back to the point I couldnt drive it for 2 weeks. I just got it fixed this past weekend with getting the timing straight, new plug wires and such. It is running now but not like it use to... still a little shaky. I was thinking about the elec. ignition and mabe a whole new distributer would do the trick, especially if the old one is going bad. EVERYTHING else with tune up has been done, so why not go all out...

I converted from points to Duraspark-II electronic ignition back in '93, and have never had any trouble whatsoever with it ...

I'm using an Accel Blueprint distributor with a Pertronix module. The Blueprint uses a stock housing but with better bushings and parts inside and adjustable vacuum advance can.
