...and died off after a couple days. It needs a new battery, but now that we've made a few repairs, it's almost driveable. All we had to was rebuild the carburator, (my uncle's friend did it just for the cost of the rebuild kit), replace the boat gas tank in the trunk with a '74 gas tank, ( Many thanks to Cody CR6 for the great deal on the tank!), replaced the fuel pump, (and of course, we pulled the duck tape off before we started, but that's not part of the streetability.) Dad also went and bought new tires for the front wheels. Oh, and my uncle custom welded an 07 mustang exhaust in there, too. Also many thanks to everyone indirectly involved in the restoration, advice from threads on the forums. Thanks to the moderators and everyone responsible for this amazing forum. I'm just 17 and I already have this car this far along. It's hard to believe that I didn't even know a Maverick was a car until Feburary 29th, when I found it on Facebook, checked it out, and bought it for 500 dollars.
Congratulations!! Keep chipping away and one day you will have it where you want it. Try and do something with it everyday even if it’s kicking the tires or just looking at it. Remember what they say …out of site, out of mind. Don’t let it out of your site. A bunch of small projects is better than no project

Thanks guys, I plan to just do whatever I can, whenever I can, and go with what I get. Plans on what it'll end up like, hopefully streetable. I actually had a paint job in mind, but I'll just go with silver since my uncle has a can of that and he works at a body shop and can get a professional to paint it if we buy them a couple sodas and something to eat while they're painting. I may get some flat black and do the stripes, and make it look kinda like it did when it had the tape on it, but I don't know. I have before/after pics in the gallery (search duct tape mav untaped) but I'll post a couple here maybe. Mavgrab302: Yes, I LOVE older cars. I plan on only buying older cars. I haven't seen any new cars I liked except maybe the fact that the new mustangs are kinda going back to their roots and if Chevy would get around to making that new camaro, it's lookin' kinda nice. Other than that though... I also have a 57 ranchwagon that was going to be scrapped by my grandpa to clear up space, but I said I wanted it, and it's in my backyard, awaiting a time when I have the money to go about restoring it. I guess you could say I saved it from the scrapyard. If nothing else, it ain't being scrapped. I almost saved an old cougar, but my dad said we didn't have space. :rant: I try to convert my friends, and have won a couple over to our ways. As long as I'm around, these cars will have a place to be safe from the crusher. I've only helped scrap one car in my life, and all we did was take in the destroyed panels, we saved the doors, motor, frame, and rearend. (it was a chevelle.)
