draining the A/c

    hypotheticlly speaking how do you drain the coolent out of a '72 mav?

    when i pull the caps off the ports im used to seeing a shrader(sp) valve, like on a tire but these seem a little diffrent

    Does the AC work??? Why do you want to empty it??? pulling engine???If you have room just unbolt the compressor and tie it off to the side out of the way.

    That's how... but your supposed to have it collected by a professional...

    Screwdrivers work wonders on this job however ;)

    ya i gotta get the motor out.

    when you take the cap off and look down there at the bottom theres a horozontal brass tap, i didnt have a long enough/pointy enough tool to get to it.

    The ozone police will write you for a gigantic fine if they catch you expelling R-12 into the atmosphere.Soo dont let em see yah.Hooking up a service hose to the low pressure port and opening the valve will expell most if not all the refrigerant from the system.

    If your just removing the motor for some reason, you can leave the A/C in the car and just tie it up as mentioned... its the best and cheapest way
