Oh hell NO !!!... It's pretty sad that Ford couldn't even think of an original name for a compact S.U.V. and blasphemed the "Maverick" name instead...
That's been out for almost 10 years or so in Europe ... I liked to see a Retro Maverick ... kinda like the 2005 Mustang but smaller and cool to compete with the compact japanese sport car market. Could be like a SCION or MINI were there are tons of different ways to Customize it ... Then it would truly be a MAVERICK since everyone would be unique ...
I have a similer opinion. How dare they use the Great name Maverick on a S.U.V. if there going to use the name they should atleast use it on a new retro style version Maverick like they did with the T-bird.
How do you guys think Cougar owners felt in the late 90's? T-bird owners in the late 50'6 early 60's? Mustang owners in 1974? Comet owners in 1971? How about Monte Carlo owners when the Lumina came out, then they dropped the Lumina nameplate (2 drs.) and brought the Monte Carlo name back. I have read that it is harder to name a vehicle that sells than it is to design and build one. I am never surprised by resurrection practices, and heck it is a protected and copyrighted name, saves them lotsa $$$$$$$$ Seth
The Escape is a nice vehicle, my Brother has one and I kinda like it. The Maverick as a SUV is sold abroad and I don't really think that the name is out of bounds in a market outside the U.S. Just my $.02.

Standard form letter...they just put Dans name in and Maverick to fill in the blanks. Wouldn't you love to see a response like: A design engineer will be contacting you shortly to get your input on a new concept Maverick/Comet. Your secrecy would be greatly appreciated in this matter as its still in design stage...besides..no one would believe you anyway
