    i was told today that the 429/469 distributor and the 289/302 distributor are the same except for the drive gear. even oil pump drive shaft is the same. does anyone know if this is true? thanks jack

    I've never heard that before... Everything on Summit's site list those as two different applications. Seems like if they were the same, they would just give you your choice of gear for it when you buy it.

    The mav is gone but i'm still here!
    Im pretty sure that they only work with 351C/M, 400M small blocks not with windsors.

    Ok, found some chicken scratchings I had,,, 351c/m, 400,429,460 all the same. 351W needs a gear change to match the above engines. There is some differences on roller an flat tappet engines, but other than gear material I don't have it listed.

    302 has a smaller diameter oil shaft then the above distributor and needs the gear change. You could use a 460 in a 302 but you will have to re machine the oil pump shaft or bush the dist. (not a feasible thing IMHO) an change gear.

    I'm moving this knowledge up to being 99.7% factual ! Open to other comments.
