Was at a car show today and sufferred tropical storm Fay damage.

A wind gust blew the hood off the prop rod ... prop rod landed on driver fender and hood came smashing down. Chewed up the paint on both fenders ... both sides of hood and dented the hood upwards on the drivers side. :(

Already brough it to the guy who painted my car and he said no problem to fix ... just gotta match the paint and melt in the new clear ... and hammer down the dent.

Hopefully Hagerty will pay for it all .....

On a more positive note ... met a local guy that has a 71 Grabber - Black/Silver 302/3-Speed that his father bought new and he inhereted after his Dad died. Says it needs work ... gonna go check it out one day when he gives me a call.

Damn...that sucks! That'll make you sick at the stomache, won't it?
That guy does great work so I'm sure he will have it back like new again in not time. Sounds interesting on the black Grabber. Keep us (me) posted. :)
Had mine in a show today too. I was off looking at another car and grabbing a bite of lunch with a friend of mine and when we came back to the show at 1:15 there were only 2 cars left, mine and his. Everyone else was gone. They cut the show short and hauled azz at 12:30 expecting it to get bad from Fay. Heck, it hadn't even rained when we got back. I mean there wasn't anybody anywhere. Oh well, at least one of my friends had lowered my hood and rolled the windows up before he left.
Haven't heard if either of us got an award or not but don't really expect we did since it was all participant voting.

Gee whiz. Fay could've at least dropped a boat load of rain on us for that damage. Plus, if had been raining your Grabber wouldn't have been at a show.

Sorry to hear about your car. I have often thought about using those skinny hydraulic hood props and replacing the prop rod. The hood on the orange car does that all the time at the track

Keep me posted about it first(ladies first?). It would go so nice with my black/silver automatic one.

sorry to hear that....we were at SOMERNITES cruise this June and we was watching the wind "play" with Terry Hahns hood (really scary is he just finished the SHAKER), Tim quickly put it down.

Thats one of the many reasons my car is now "prop-less" :yup:

Sorry to hear that Dan. I've always hated these prop rods. All the more reason to come up with something better.
