does a cowl scoop have to be a certain height in order to be effective, i was thinking about using a bolt on cowl scoop from a 78' mustang cobra on my car. http://mustangattitude.com/mustang/1978/1978_00043_14.jpg hight might be 2inches
2" is a good height but...You want it to hang over the cowl a bit (an inch or two) So it really dips into the high pressure air off the cowl/windshield. If not you will want to go taller on the scoop opening to get the air volume you need for it to be effective.
