Has anyone here tried the special low-profile control arm grease fittings (part #610-041) that AutoKrafters sells? I finally broke down and got some but it seems like the threaded end is just a wee bit larger in diameter than my stock 90 degree fittings. The result is that I can't get them to thread in without cross-threading. I suppose I could tap the holes in my bushings to the size of the fittings, but I'm concerned that the metal that would be removed in the process would find its way inside the bushings and cause problems.

I've already sent a message to AutoKrafters tech department but in the meantime thought I'd check here to see if anyone's been down the same road.

OK, so I ass-u-me that they should be the same kit regardless of which parts house they come from, so am I just retarded or what? BTW that's a purely rhetorical question...

I guess if you need to tap the threads to make it work, and if it is that close, the metal wont make a difference once greased well. Good info, and keep us posted as to the results.

Had them for 6yrs, and the bushings never squeak...as long as I remember to grease them. They are easy to install, and make your life a lot easier. Got mine from Melvin's, in Conyer's Ga.

Well, I finally got 'er done. I never did get a reply from AK, so I went ahead and drilled and tapped the holes in the bushings to get the fittings to thread in properly. So far so good.

The weird thing is that when I ordered suspension parts for my cars, I initially ordered just the shaft kit for the 4-door, and later when I got the Sprint I ordered complete arms with the shafts for it. After finally getting the fittings installed in the Sprint, I tried them on the 4-door, and wouldn't ya know, they fit without any modification. :coco: What's really odd is that I got all my suspension parts from the same place. Go figure...

I'm inclined to agree with that. Still kinda goofy though.
