    Hey all,

Has anyone tried, or even thought of this... Turning a Comet into a Maverick??

I'm no expert, but I would think its just a Hood/grille/bumper up front, and tail lights in the rear. Or have I completely lost it?

You would have to change out the whole tailpanel. It is totally different from maverick to comet. If its a maverick you want, your better off buying a Maverick! Just a thought:)

It's a MAv I want, just curious if anyone had done it. I had a 1983 Merc Marquis, and it was only a Hood/grille/tail lights different from the Ford LTD II. The door sills had the FORD logo on them. :)

ANd yes, the whole tail pan. That makes sense now that I think about it. But, other than that... Doable. Cool.

    But I LIKE the MAV....

I really do like the Mav over the Comet. That front end just... just, sticks out!! And what's with those tail lights??

I find the lines of the Maverick so much sleeker... But hey! Each their own. I was just wondering if anyone had, and what it take to do the conversion. :)

no blasphemy is changing a comet into a maverick and then into a pinto...

some guy at the NHRA Museum last night said the front of the maverick looked like a pinto.. i was about to knock him over the head with my lawn chair!

    You can't deny the similarities.

When I was younger and dumber, when people asked what a maverick was, I told them it kinda looks like a stretched out pinto.

Ya, Ya, I know you guys will never forgive me for that, but at least I don't say that anymore.

There have been a couple Comicks on the board, the tail panel would be a PITA but the front end is easy.

Thats funny that you say that, when I was driving the 4door mavi, a friends dad described it as a pregnant mustang

I think the only reason they put the different taillights on a Comet was because they had a bunch of leftovers from late 60s Montegos and wanted to get rid of em !

I gets worse . I know a bunch of Chevie boobs and they say my 71 comet sorta looks like a 70.5 discomachine ( Camaro ).

If you really prefer the look of a Maverick, but would like to keep tha car you have, just convert the front and keep the Comet taillights. It'll still look cool, and be unique. I have nothing at all against Comicks...
