    1. Is the 302 in a 73' mercury comet gt a 4.9l or a 5.0l?
    2. Is it possible to open up the bottom of the hood scoop to make it functional? To let air flow into the engine bay.
    3. Has anyone ever put a Dual-quad intake manifold on a comet? If so where did you/they get it? How much?
    4. What would be the best sort of carbs to put on a dual quad intake manifold?
    5. If my 1973 Mercury Comet GT with a dual exhaust system, 4 barrel Holley Carb, and a Edelbrock intake manifold. What sort of horse power are we talkin' here?

    Thanks,
    Connor :thumbs2:

See answers in quote. I have no knowledge of the quad stuff you're asking about. There was a quad manifold for sale on here recently though.

    A 302 is a 5.0, after the 70s. I have a 71 302 block that Im strokin for my 73 Maverick, that came from a 71 Maverick( Same thing as a comet).
The main difference between the 2 engines is the balance, 5.0 are 50 OZ and The early 302s are 28 OZ. Both engines will fit in Mavs and Comets with the V8 frame mounts. Search the Tech Arts. :)

    I am dropping a 71 302 stroked to 331 with a fox body mustang 4 spd AOD in mine.
With Dual Quads you better cut a big hole in that hood or get one that will close.

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
    Technically a 302 is 4.95L
    Actually a Ford 302 is 301.9
using 4.002 bore and 3.0 stroke.

But it is always refereed to as 302(5.0L) :D
Engines are almost always rounded up to the next whole number when it's a hundredth or less.

Edelbrock makes a two four intake that is about the same height as a normal four barrel intake. It uses the Edelbrock carbs, 550 cfm IIRC works best. Way more than you need for a stock 302. A better choice would be a single four intake like a Torker or Performer with about a 600-650 carb, Edelbrock or Holley, with vacuum secondaries.

I'm with stepside on the dual quad's. the 302 is far too small to really need that much carb, sure it'll look cool but the power gains will minimal at best and will make the car run poor at worst. unless, there's some serious work to the internals of the engine. Now if you really want to stand out get yourself a weber set up. soon as I win the lottery I'll be getting one.

That's awsome! What is used for an air filter? I always wanted a tunnel ram but this looks pretty cool.
