Why dont you get a electronic dizzy for the 302 and use the stock ignition?

If you're going to use a points distributor, the + side of the coil should be connected to the resistor wire from the ignition switch or to a wire from a ballast resistor. Otherwise the full 12 V will burn the points quickly.

Additionally, there should be a wire from the starter solenoid that provides a full 12V while cranking.

Before searching for a resistor wire or wiring in a Ballast Resistor check your coil. Some Say on them they Internally Resisted and dont need an external resistor. If you have an Internal Resistor coil you can run a wire from the "I" post on the solenoid to the coil. Even if its an external resistor coil you can run the same wire but need to put a ballast resistor inline.

The Duraspark box you took out has two positive wires the fed it, a red and a white wire. One is hot when key on and the other is hot when cranking so I dont think those would be good to use on points. But if you still have the Duraspark box and its wired in then you could just buy a Durapark distributor and hook it up and youd have electronic ignition.

yes i can get spark out of the coil but when i plug in the coil wire to the distributor no spark to the plugs you guys think the points might b tost?

the points could be toast or just not adjusted correctly. you really are taking a step back in technology going from the dura spark ignition that the car had stock to points.
do you a dewell meter? if so you should be able to hook it up and see what the dewell of the points is when cranking and then adjust accordingly.
