I was watching Ray's vid on the Drag forum and noticed the tires were actually out from under the fender. I have tried this and sat the fender down on the tire hard enough to cut the tire open as well as mess up the fender. Please tell me, Are they re-arched/heavy springs, air shocks:49: , or what..The car launched well, but had little squat, mine drops pretty hard, even with coil springs added to the shocks. Any constructive help is welcome...

Even cheap bolt-on traction bars ($20.00 from AutoZone) will stop that dip.

My track "coach" and wife says the dip in the rear transfers to lift in the front, and she says it looks cool when the front lifts off the springs (but not off the tires) on take-offs.

Anything to have my wife think I am cool (y)

Well, I have installed Traction bars on the car. It helped a little, but the tire is still sinking under the finder lip. I understand that is weight transfer, but has limited me to a 265/50R15. I have checked for correct off-set for the rims, I have about 1/2 inch inside and out (betwen tire and sheet metal). I know the squat is good for traction, but I would like to get some traction with out having to Sell one of my kids to pay for it...
I guess the real question is do I need to get better springs (these are the 6 cylinder springs that came on the car) or is something wrong with the geometry...?

the springs are weak.. all orginal maverick springs end up sagging!

I did the bandaid fix for mine with good results.

1" lift shackles, air shocks at 35psi (higher if you need it), and those cheap bolt on traction bars set as tight and high as possible.

Now, I have too much space between my tire and fender. I plan on replacing the rear springs with a 4-leaf heavy-duty, and then losing the air shocks.

I will lose the air shocks soon, and currently, keep them at minimum inflation 25psi. The more pressure you put on them, the better your chances of shoving them through the bottom of the car and into the back seat.

you also can band aid it with U clamps on the front and the rear of the spring.

that worked for me when i had saggin rearend.... :49: oh wait let me rephrase that... that worked for me when i had a saggin leafsprings.

from what i hear the U clamps was a old hot rod trick... but i'm not old so maybe someone else here could verify that :p

I did the shackle band-aid and have my traction bar up snug. Seems to work okay so far. I'd love to pitch the shackles, but then my slicks won't fit anymore. 10" wheels are just a bit too wide for my car. One day I'll get my butt in gear and make a change or two in the rear. then it will sit nice and low.
