choices with stk torque converter

    this is what the master rebuild kit.

    what upgrade cam should i get with a stock torque converter?

    Gotta know the durations @0.050" lift.
    "Advertised" durations vary wildly and tell nothing about a cam's nature.

    With a stock converter, you really should keep duration @.050" below 220*.
    I had good results with a 214* @.050" cam and stock convertered C4.
    This combo will need some gear though. Stock 2.79s or 3.00s won't cut it, even with a cam this small and a car as light as a 72 Mav. SBFs just don't make much torque without a stroking.

    Oh, and keep the lift as low as possible if you have stock rocker arms.
    The closer to .450" lift, the safer you will be.
    I have seen .470" lift pull stock studs.
    You also have to watch stock slot length, even with pedestal rockers.
