Decided to go ahead and knock out some of the small things this coming week/weekend while I have some time off work. Building this car to be a full time daily driver. Full LED bulbs throughout the car, new parking brake cable, hid conversion (hyper white, none of that blue tint stuff), billetart grill, spoilers by randy chin spoiler, mustang springs up front (coil cut off after they settle), 1" lowering block in the rear, and get the heat functioning. That's my plan for this week.
Welp. Got all the led bulbs in, billetart grill installed, and heat working. Vacation got cut short so didn't have the time to KO everything else on the list. Guess those will be small jobs for a rainy day. Sorry for the side ways pictures. Uploading from my phone and can't figure out why they are rotated like that.
The front were just 1167 amber smd led lights with a projector lenses on top of the bulb. They were $10 a pair off ebay. The rear were the same except in red. Also $10 a pair on ebay. The side markers and cluster were just 194 smd white. A 20 pack of them was $8 off ebay. If you do go the led route make sure to get a new signal flasher relay. The led resistance will drop too low for the standard flash module to operate. The new one will run at 15v when your signals are engaged to allow the lights to flash at normal speeds. There is also some adjustable flash speed relays available that allow you to make your signals flash at the speed you want. They are anywhere from $10-15. With the 194 bulbs I had to take a small flat head and bulge out the bottom of the metal connectors on the bulb so when they were firmly set into the socket there would be good contact. Just a small problem I came across. If you need any more information I would be more than glad to find the receipts for the bulbs and get you the seller and part numbers I used.
Thanks I've converted my interior to full led but I was wondering if their would be much of a difference in exterior lighting, I see now that I will be going full led outside to thanks. Also I see you mentioned converting to hid, I was thinking of doing that also but didn't no which kit to buy, any input on that would be greatly appreciated thanks
I ordered the 55 hi/low kit from DDMtuning.com in the H4 bulb size. 6000k is the color I got which is the hyper white. The kit will come with everything needed to install into your factory wiring. I would also recommend getting the mounting brackets as an add on. Only cost a couple bucks more and makes mounting the ballasts a lot easier and cleaner. You will also need to order a pair of 7" round headlight housings that are semi sealed. They will take the H4 bulb. The HID kit was $70 total including shipping. I found the 7" round housings on ebay for $40 for the pair. Hoping to get mine installed this week sometime.
Finally had a little time off work today. Got the HID kit installed. First picture is the HID installed in the passenger side with a halogen in the drivers side for comparison. The second is of the kit fully installed as its getting dark. I know I've seen people who have concerns about the light blinding other drivers. This kit comes with shields around parts of the bulb to deflect the light to the center and down at the road so minimum light is sent towards other drivers. I am working on a tech article for installation, parts, and any problems that may occur during installation.
