Well I have started planning out what I want my center console to look like. I still have the bench in my car, but I'm gonna replace it with buckets within the next several days. I want to make a console that actually attaches to the bottom of the dash. I was at first thinking about making one like the granada, but I think it looks so much better if it actually has a piece that touch the bottom of the dash. It's gonna be a wooden base with a fiberglass top and sides covered in leather or vinyl. When I do make it, I plan to upload some pictures with it in and our of the car. I do have some questions though.... If I do make one, will anybody be interested in buying one similar to it? These will be made without a mold, but will be test fitted in my car. Would you prefer a hole for the floor shifter? I'm guessing yes. How much are you willing to pay for one? Keep in mind that before your console would be made, I will take info on tweeks and mods you would like done. Such as preloaded gauges, stainless steal panels, leather over vinyl, gauge position, color, armrest side or top opening, mounted switches, etc. Some problems are gonna be the hole for the shifter, seeing as many have different ones measurements are gonna be a must. Also the fact that I still have a column shift. I may be able to work out some sort of trade, like a console for a shifter and a column or something like that. But I could just make a flat piece and then you could cut it to fit your needs. Another thing is the the fact that everybody, just about, has different bucket seats, so expect the clearance to be an issue, as far as seat to console, but I have 99 escort seats so you shouldn't have a problem with it being too wide. Yet another thing is time....I have lot's of rust repair to do on the exterior of my car and interior things I want to fix on my car, however I want to put in the buckets now and make a center console w/gauges that way I can keep an eye what my soon to be 351-w, not in yet, is doing. Plus I am gonna be making these myself. Each will be hand made, therefore taking sometime to complete, depending on my work week and schooling. I estimate about 2 weeks from start to finish. I will also keep track of the process of your order and take many pictures of the process. I will also make a how-to post on here to help some of the guys that want something totally different, but need some help. But, I would trade lets say a console for other maverick parts that I need, even if I lose some $$, I really need some parts. So I need some input before I really take time in thinking/planning about all this. How does the idea sound to you guys? Oh and BTW I still plan for them to be affordable, not like 1 grand, unless you want it to have diamonds all over it....LOL.
