I know that the pinto looks similar to the maverick on the front end and vegas have a distant look to the maverick. I have never noticed before that the rear view of the 68 GT/CS Mustang is similar to the Mavericks: Interesting.
Saw one at the car show today that's for sale. Has some minor rust but it's a complete driver. The guy has had it for 30 years and wants to sell it for enough to do cabinets in his kitchen which he said he could do for 10k.
smegnl said: I think the 68 Camaro looks close http://www.arkansascamaro.com/M-Wesson68Camaro.jpg --------------------------- Yup. That does look catchy like the Grabber package. What is also interesting is how Ford's design team supposedly designed the Maverick to compete with the influx of Volkwagons beetles in the United States. I read on another Maverick site that the design team started designing the 69 1/2 Maverick (70 Maverick) in 1967. With the Trend of American car companies re-introducing "Muscle" themed cars...I am surprised that Ford/Mercury doesn't re-introduce the Maverick Grabber and Comet GT. I wouldn't be surprised if they sold well.
They were never real muscle cars though, that's one of the reasons why they wont be introduced. Plus they already have the mustang. And god ford bid another ford car ever outsell a mustang, their owners would throw a fit.
sweet! road and track named that car as a collectors car now. what about a side profile of the early 70's Rx3 i always called it a mini maverick. same kind of quarter window, side markers, same rear slant rear window.
Yes indeed. That is a great thread where Dave shows original confidential documents, showing early trim of the Maverick (Falcon). Thanks. That is what is so nice about this Maverick/Comet Forum...all the wealth of knowledge between all of these enthusiasts.
yeah my friend owned one back in the mid late 80's. when i would park next to it at his house he would always go hey man my car looks like a mini version of yours. lol! we always joke about it.
