I watched the special on Speed Channel last night about the best of Cars at Carlisle, 2004 and it was a huge disappointment. They made it sound as if they were going to cover all the big shows held at the fairgrounds. Wrong!! They went on in great detail about the Chrysler Nationals, The Covette show, the Bike show, the truck show and a small bit about the Import show, but COMPLETELY left out anything about the All Ford Nationals and, believe it or not, The GM Nationals. Oh, they showed a few quick shots of a Mustang or two and the Starsky and Hutch Torinos in between clips, but that was about it. I could not beleive they would exclude any footage from two of the biggest shows they have at the fairgrounds. What a bummer. All in all, the show was quite interesting, but there sure will be a lot of disappointed viewers out there.
Jean I saw the show as well. very dissapointed. I go to the all Ford show and it is just as big as these shows. I guess they still don't care for Fords. But do we care. "NO".
Well was working and couldn't watch it... just send a letter to their public relations dept and express your opinion... If there is enough letters they will change some of their coverage to include what you said... Just my
Typical Speed Channel coverage. They will do the same thing to Fords at the Barrett - Jackson auction. They show 3 Corvettes in a row and then go to commercial as a KR500 is wheeled up on stage. Been like that for years. I say write a short one paragraph email to their program director. The squeeky wheel gets the grease! Here is the Speed Channel feedback page to write them a comment. Take 2 minutes and let them know what you think. http://www.speedtv.com/feedback/
I sent them one too. We'll just have to see what happens next. I'm pretty sure they are going to get a ton of unhappy feedback. You can pretty much bet the GM owners are just as unhappy as the Ford owners are. Maybe the producers will realize what a big mistake they made when both Ford AND Chevy owners start ganging up on them. They way the show was advertised implied that ALL the big car show events would be covered. Maybe it was the ones that rake in the most money that they were the most interested in. I suggest that everyone going to Carlisle this year come out in force and let them know what we think to thier faces.
Any day now, Speed Channel is going to have to change their name to the NASCAR Channel. You can kiss off just about anything but NASCAR until December; at least anything in prime time.
The editors of this stuff don't seem to know anything about cars and the announcer musta been reading a script. They seemed to just want to highlite the fact that the brothers bought Carlisle after they made gobs of cash promoting car shows there. They made it sound like this was the only or best place to hold car shows.
