I have a 1976 Maverick with a 250 6 cyl engine. It had started to run rough at curb idle, so I thought I would adjust the idle since it runs well otherwise. When I took off the air cleaner, it appeared that a part was missing. There is a bracket on the side of the carburetor that according to Chilton's should hold either an anti-stall dashpot or a throttle solenoid. Neither is present. Which of these is appropriate for this year? I can't tell from Chilton's since it covers 1970-1977 model years. I looked for a wire which would be needed to power the solenoid but couldn't find one. Thanks in advance for your help. Highwayman
Some of the carbs do have them and some don't. If yours do not have a wire for the solenoid than don't worry about it. If its running rough than increase the idle some also check the timing. You might want to replace the spark plugs they could be fouled.
