I have a '73 Comet w/302, 2bbl. Are both screws on the lower/front at 7:00 & 5:00 the idel mixture screws? Or is the one at 7:00 for adjustments to the sparkport. Also, could someone tell me what a good setting would be for both? From seat, I've set both at 5 full turns out. At idel the engine seems happy here. I don't have a tach, but I set the idel high enuff were the engine idels smoothly while in gear. Lastly, the vacuum sits between 16&18inchs, is that about right? Sorry for all the mondane questions, but I havnt got a manual. Thanks.

Yes both are mixture screws.Set mixture with your vacuum guage.5 turns seems a bit rich.Base line it.Turn the idle down as low as it will go and still run straigt. Now useing your vacuum guage turn the screws/out untill you achieve the highest vacuum reading. Then reset your idle and you should be good to go.Make sure timeing is set properly and plugs/wires/fuel are good.
Yes your vacuum reading seems good for a old engine .

both are idla air mix screws just start where you are and turn the scrwes out counter clocwies until the eng. starts to run ruff then the screws in until it runs nice make sure your vacuum addvance is hooked to a trottle vac.port not a full time port the idle should be about 800 rpm harry
