First you need to determine if its a fuel problem problem or electrical. Get one of those strobe type timming lights and rig it up so you can see it from the drivers seat. Drive it till it quits. See if its still flashing before the engine RPMs stop. If it continues to flash, its fuel. If not, its electrical.

    car quits

My sons 77 4 door did that a few times before the ignition module quit working. It would start back up in a couple minutes til it got hot again and poof, nothin. The timing light idea is a good one too....just adding my :2cents: ...Jim

does the lights go out also? mine was a fusible- link by the voltage reg. also had a 67 comet sports coupe in high school that would lose all power (horn ,lights, etc) and it was a lose wire running to my after market amp gauge

my car would just shut off driving down the road....i would press in the clutch and turn the key and it would fire back up.....drive the rest of the day or sometimes another 5 miles.... but it would always start up....
    i replaced the following
    1. ignition switch
    2. starter solenoid
    3. cables
    4. alternator
    5. voltage regulator
    6. coil

after i replaced the coil it never did it again....now i have a complete MSD system and it still hasnt shut down on me...

    good luck
