I take my Driving test on Thursday and I get to drive my 1976 Maverick to school for the first time on Friday. Dad registered it this last week and drove it to work a few days. Said besides a small exhaust leak and no dash lights it seems good.
Good luck on your test. Big moment in your life earning the responsibility of driving - a big step towards adulthood.
Congratulations. Even with the big bumpers, it'll be cooler than what most students are driving to school.
go out the couple of days before and practice practice practice read your handbook from cover to cover and go for it. when you go be comfortable. dont be nervous. drive as you would as if the dmv person wasnt in the car. well as if it was dad in the car anyway lol remember to wait an extra second at the stop signs and watch out for pedestrians and bicyclers before you turn. make your corners nice and square and take an automatic car for the drive. I remember my test I used a friends car that I had never drivin before and was way too comfortable with the dmv person I made a few mistakes but passed lol good luck remember dont be uptight and nervous youll make more mistakes just take your time and youll do fine
Way to start it off, the adventure begins! Good luck and listen to the old man. Dad knows best 99.99% of the time!
Clean Mav you have there .... love the Keystone wheels. I had to take my driving test twice.... anybody here ever attempt to parallel-park a 74 Olds Delta 88 four door? .... it's a battleship ... it was cone slaughter. We used to have to nudge the front wall of the garage with it, if we actually wanted to close the garage door. Very long car. Came back the second time with my 65 Mustang .... passed with flying colors. Best of luck!... and look forward to seeing more of your car here.
Good luck! I was in Connecticut last week. Stayed a week in Rhode Island. Just remember to adjust you mirrors, fasten seat belt & then relax. The journey of driving begins....
Welcome and good luck with your driving test. You couldn't have picked a better car to it in. My first driving test (50+ years ago) was taken in my brothers 57 Chevy BelAir convertible............with factory continental kit on the back bumper, and as someone else mentioned I slaughtered the cones on the parallel parking part of it...............and flunked the first one. The second time I took it in my Dad's 64 Chevelle SS with automatic..........and passed!
