ive noticed alot of the 4 lug mustang wheels are fairly cool, but their bolt pattern is 4 x 4.25 and our mavericks 4 lug patter is 4 x 4.5

now i know in most cases i would find it totally crazy, but in this case seeing as you'd probably only need another 1/8 inch outta each hole, is it possible to have this wholes just a tiny bit elongated to fit our cars?

also could this be done at home with a normal drill or some kind of tool to save cost?

i hope i dont sound stupid askin this, but it was just a curiosity in my mind

There may be an adapter available, but the back spacing is different too. You may need spacers as well.

like bob said there may be an adaptor. but, but, BUT, for safety reasons i would not redrill any wheel holes or elongate them, unless it was done by a wheel shop that knows what they are doing. and even then they may not want the responsibility.

I've seen this done by someone at home. It wasn't pretty. I worked for Goodyear at the time. It made everyone in the shop nervous. We told the guy to get some new wheels. None of us had any confidence in these. There are some pretty extreme forces that wheels go through.

    So in word ... Don't! (y)

There are so many custom wheel companies out there, you are bound to find something you like. One wheel that I have always liked that seem to be making a comeback are styled after the old Ansen slotted mags, and those could be had in the 70s in a four bolt pattern as well as a five.

If I am remembering correctly, some Mavs and Mustangs came with aluminum slots from the factory that weren't dished very deep. There should be a bunch of old aftermarket wheels on eBay, too. Being that these are aluminum, they can be shined up pretty well. Just make sure you are getting straight ones (not bent or dented).

Aluminum requires a good polishing frequently, but there is a new product out called Zoops that is a barrier that helps keep it shiny a lot longer.

Here's a link that shows some slots ...

You're gonna' laugh, but not at the wheels...
