can the plate that holds the cam in on a 302 be put on wrong? I'm trying to cover all the bases before final assembly. How much horsepower will a 302 bored .030 with flattops and 289 performer with a 600 edelbrock make with stock heads?
Hey Rebel, If you look closely at the cam plate, it has a groove in it. This is for oil to drain down into the timing-chain area. Make sure it is clean before reassembly, as after you assemble it it is a oil drain. the groove should be against the block, draining down. You should be able to get 300 horse, with the right cam, carb, & exhaust system. Good luck.
