the c4 behind my 250 will not shift automatically... the vacuum modulator is hooked up... any chance it is the wrong vacuum port... does anyone have a diagram of which port it goes to?... it will shift if i do it manually on the column... but that only gives me second gear!!!...

also the starter drags... what is suggested to shim it?

A couple things to check onthe transmission.
The vacuum line is connected to manifold vacuum - usually at the distribution manifold on the firewall but you can connect it directly to the manifold. Check the vacuum at the modulator end of the line - they sometimes get crushed or plugged.
Make sure the kickdown linkage is not stuck in the fully depressed position. It should spring back after it is pressed and released. There may also be a return spring on the kick-down linkage - not always but it doesn't hurt to install one.

If the starter drags - all the time - then there is a factory shim available. If it is a gear reduction starter then check the wiring. If they are wired wrong you can get a delayed release of the drive gear. The solenoid might be sticking and you can check that with a voltmeter while someone else cranks the engine and then lets it return to the "Run" position.
