Hey guys progress on the maverick has been slow but once I get moved (more on that later) I should have alot more time to play with it . The other day I went to back it out of the carport but when I put it in reverce it would hardly move . If I put it in drive or low I could set there and roast the tires off if I wanted, any ideas ???

    Thanks.

By all means check the fluid level first.
If thats OK then since only reverse is affected You should check the reverse servo piston. They can be replaced in the car and its a good thing because they fail all too often. Might just have taken a "set" while sitting and may work better after a good warm up but the piston seal (which is molded to the steel piston) cracks and won't seal as a common failure. Thats why I always replace them with a build job regardless of the condition.

    First thing I checked (y).

How hard is it to replace the reverse piston, four bolts and reajust the band ?

four bolts, remove cover and piston and spring.
lubricate the new piston with Vaseline.
install new seal ring on cover and lubricate it
    install spring and piston
    Install cover and bolts
    adjust band
test drive to see if it is fixed.
It is a pretty easy, fast fix. It is the only one without opening up the transmission.
