    Has anyone swapped a C4 to stick on a '71 Mav with a 250?

Was the 250 available with a manual trans?

1974 was the first year a manual tranny was available with the 250 ...

I did not know that. What are you basing this on? I wonder of you could order a 250 with a manual trans even if the automatic was the standard trans for the 250.

I'm telling yah ... look at the brochures for all the years .... they will say you had to get an Automatic if you get the optional 250 engine ... until 1974 that is ... :) I'm also pretty sure the 250 z-bar was a D3DZ part number but not used until late 1973 to build 74 cars ...

If you have the 65-72 Ford parts guide like I have ... you will not find a 250 z-bar or z-bar mounts listed as a valid part.

So If U Have A 250 W/ A Manual Transmission, The Z-bar And Everything Is The Same Used On V8's..???? If That's The Case, I Know Where One Is And The Guys Is Swapping To Automatic...would Be A Good Score For Me:D (IF THEY'RE THE SAME)

    250 is unique z-bar and mounts .... sorry ... won't work with V8 ...

However ,,, I could use the 250 z-bar parts and pedal setup for my car .... when the C4 eventually goes I would like to put in a 3-spd with OD tranny in there ... Let me know if you can help me out ... :)

After putting a T5 in my Falcon/Ranchero last month with a 200 I was thinking of doing the same for the Mav. It makes a world of difference in driving fun.

Ok, Dan, so in '74 the 250 got a manual, is the flywheel and bell housing unique to the 250 or is it the same as a 200?

Did the Granada get a 250 w/stick? What other models had the 250 with manual trans?

A 250 and 200 flywheel is not the same. A 250 flywheel is same as 302 but has 0 imbalance .. Don't know about the other stuff ...

None ... V8's are either 28oz (early) or 50oz (later) imblance.... 0 imbalance wheels are unique to 6-cylinder cars as far as I know ...

You can buy aftermarket Billet Flywheels that are 0 imbalance for use on rebuilt engines that have been internally balanced. Of course ... these will work on a 250 6-cylinder since it is internally balanced from the factory.

    Like This ...

I put a 302 in my comet using the 250 3spd and all the linkage. It all worked fine except all the bushings were messed up so it was a little sloppy.

BTW anyone want a 250's 3 speed? It's only mildly abused and the bellhousing is only missing the fork fulcrum. My Wife wants it to go.
