    Hi all
I decided to try and change the filter on the Sprint. It was a mess!! After installing the new filter and refilling the car began to pull in forward and reverse. However when the car is in drive it is hit or miss. Reverse L1 and L2 are working great. I pulled the vac line off the modulator valve and fluid came out. My dad and others say this means the valve is bad. I change the one in my grabber some years ago but its symptoms were different. Is this typical of a bad mod valve?
    Thanks

Yes, it would be bad. I'm sure it's probably sucking tranny fluid right into the engine too.

there is a little spring that is held in place by the filter...did you lose it when you changed them? I have no idea what that spring does :D but I know it will fall out when changing filters

I did reinstall the spring and metal whatever it is back when I put the new filter in. I think all went back as it should. Ray is the problem I am having typical of a bad Mod Valve?

I have had a couple do that over the years...not a big problem. Just be prepared to change it out quickly cause you're going to lose some fluid.

Thanks I will be johnny on the spot! ( or at least have a large pan under it). It would be great to be able to drive this silly car instead of having it towed everywhere I want to take it! I can't start working until it is inspected and all. They frown on tagging a car that can't come to the DMV under its own power (silly people). Really thanks for the info. John once this thing is moveable I will drive it to work. I will give you a call and you can tell me what you think of it.
    Thanks

That is what my grabber did, Smoked like crazy but this one isn't smoking at all. That is what threw me. I assumed ( you know what happens when you assume ) that if the valve was bad I would see a lot of smoke. Any how we will change it out and see what happens. Take care
