Are 4-door and 2-door Bucket Seat Tracks interchangeable ?

I have a 72 Comet 4-door with Bucket seats - don`t know enough about them to know if they are LDO or standard - what`s the difference? Is anyone running 4-door buckets in their 2 door car ? Any problem doing this except that the seat won`t fold down ?

I have 4-door LDO buckets and tracks in my Yellow Maverick ... tracks are the same as 2-door .. Others have indicated you can remove the locking bolt on the seat and this will allow it to flip forward. I have not tried it though ... I haven't had any backseat passengers yet ...

Yeah, Dan, but now that 4-door doesn't have any seats in it...

Bucket seat tracks changed in 75, so if you going to put buckets in a 75 & up you'll need those.

You only need to modify the inside passenger track to make early tracks fit in later cars. Not too difficult in my opinion. So I'd grab bucket tracks no matter what year they come out of.

Dan is correct, the four door seats can be made to fold by removeing 1 bolt on each side of the seat cushion. You have to take off the cover plate, then you will see the two torx head bolts in the cushion. Looking at the side, remove the bolts nearest the back rest. The front bolt then will be the hinge.

But dont you need to add a latch to keep the back upright? Would not be much fun in a panic stop without one.

It would be the same as the early Mustangs. The latches to keep the seatback from folding forward on impact didn't start untill sometime in the late 60's or early 70's....
