Bought a new Carburetor. Looks to be a knockoff.

My old GT carb was sticking at the butterfly. Which was a PITA. In searching for a good rebuilt I stumbled upon this.... no where anywhere does it have Motocraft or Autolite on it. My take is it is a Chinese clone.

OK, call me a sucker for a potential deal. It's installed. It fit. And so far I'm happy. While the ethanol fuel might eat the guts out of it within a day or two...so far so good,. It bolted up correctly. The filter went in as it should. The throttle cable and vacuum lines are correct.

Pop the throttle once. Hit the starter. It fires instantly. Fast idle for a moment then it settles down. True I could of had a rebuilt one for $220 on up....(shop over on the coast charges $280). Plus core, plus shipping....

Yes I probably could of rebuilt it myself. But I took a chance and bought this one. I'm thinking of buying a 2nd one for my 80 F100. The F100 needs a carb rebuild. It stumbled and burps until the heat starts to come on. I've had 3 used ones on it the past month. One would idle so low you thought the truck was a hybrid.

The gas we are forced to buy in the Golden State literally sucks. My boats are a disaster after sitting through the winter. (Yes I said winter---it was 80 yesterday!) The carbs are all eaten up from sitting even though we ran that Stablizer though them last fall.

Sounds like you got a lot of moisture or water in you're fuel tank, stabilizer won't help with that. The ethanol in today’s fuel absorbs it then it sits in the carburetor. Ethanol does a wonderful job of cleaning and removing moisture/water from fuel systems.

Yeah I dunno who built it but it has enough differences from the orig, it's no doubt a repop...

Hey if it runs OK that's the important part...
