Just thought I'd share with you guys that my X-Boss 302, just sold on ebay for a record $49,000. It is apparently the highest documented price street Boss sold ever. Ebay #2440399601. I don't know how to make it clickable. I wish I had it back! Daughter had to go to college though.
Beautiful car!! What made the price go so high?? Special options (besides the boss)? I passed up a Boss Eliminator for $4000 a couple of years ago....I didnt even own it and I regret it!! Your went for a good cause....
Check it out on ebay & you'll know why the high price. The previous documented record was $39,000. These cars have been closing in on the Shelby prices for the last 18 months. Boss 302 Eliminators don't bring the money that the Boss 302 Mustang version does, although they are rarer. It's kind of like owning a Maverick! lol
I know. I still prefer the Eliminators/cougars to the Mustangs. Not sure why. I gave up mustangs when I got mine. Someday, I would like to do another mustang but the Maverick comes first...must have priorities!! I will check out the car on ebay.
WOW....beautiful job. How long did it take to complete this car once restoration began? I admire guys with the patients to do a job like that......
I owned the car for 13 years. It took 12 years for me to complete the restoration. I did everything I could to hold onto the car when I went thru my divorce, plus I moved 5 times. I finally relented & sold the car in 2002, so my daughter could attend college.

Hey, GS? I have heard from a couple of sources that cars such as Boss 2's that came without lots of options are experiencing lots of increase in value. I notice that yours was sans shaker and deck spoiler. Is that part of the reason it went so high? I know a guy in this area with a '70 Boss 2 that he and his wife bought brand new. She drove it to work until the gas crisis. It is a trailer queen now. Calypso colored with std. black int., shaker, slats and deck spoiler. Seth
Seth-True, my Boss had just about zero options...No shaker, no slats, no wing. Most of these cars are loaded up with options, even the ones that didn't come with these options from the factory. I think the reason, besides the rotisserie restoration, that it sold so high, was that the car had some very rare period correct Trans Am mods tastefully done to it. It really is a one off Boss. It goes to show you that these cars don't have to be MCA concours correct to bring the money.
Not to get picky GS, but that may have been the highest documented auction for a Boss 302 but probably not for a Boss car. Nice car anyway, too bad you had to sell. I wish I still had my 428 CJ Mach 1, my big block Cougar Eliminator, etc etc....
Of course Boss9s bring bigger dough. I'm just so use to using the term Boss to describe Boss 302s that the statement wasn't exactly true in the form that I wrote it. Sorry...
