I have a 200 C.I.D. with A/C. I need to take the A/C unit out because it never has worked and today it started smoking around the pulley. My question is, When i order new belts do I just order for a non A/C car?
Yep. And personally, I would get correct alternator brackets from a non A/C car. Not really necessary though.
do you know where i can get them from because I just called advance auto and they dont carry them and cant tell me where to get them
so i ordered belts from the dealership i work at and they showed only one belt for the non a/c, but I have to belt grooves on my fan and alternator. Plus the belt they gave me was considerably small. Is one belt sufficient and does anybody know the belt numbers that i need?
NON AC belts would not work because the alternator is in a different spot on an AC car. You just need to take a string and measure around where you want the belt to go. One belt should be fine.
One belt will work but two will require less pressure on your pump and alternator. Less tension means less wear on belts, pulleys and bearings.
When you take the A/C compressor out of the loop, a non A/C belt works fine. I personally have done it. The distance does not change, the A/C bracket simply moves the alternator down. Advance Auto here has A/C and non A/C belts in stock. Not sure why the one where you live dosen't. One belt will be fine.
