My mom's ford explorer accelerates faster than my car. It's not right. My car has been experiencing a lot of stalling, so I replaced the fuel filter and that made it a little better, but I still have really bad acceleration. What could be the problem? -Thanks, Har MAR
Timing, throttle linkage adjustment, tune, brakes dragging, converter failure, etc. There are tens of thousands of things that can go wrong with a car - about ten percent will affect your problem in some way. Could you narrow it down a bit more by giving more of the symptoms?
Slap an 8-71 on it, that'll fix any acceleration problems Check your spark plugs. Does the car idle rough? Hows the carb? Check your spark plug wires and make sure they're all hooked up right.
If your Mom's explorer is a V8 explorer and your Maverick is a basically Stock 302 Maverick then the Explorer will win in acceleration. The Explorer is geared better and is putting out more horsepower? Why is that so hard to swallow?
