I own a 74 Comet. It seems like there is a lot of pressure in the engine - blowing oil out through the dipstick and blowing oil into the air filter as well.

Any thoughts or ideas why it's doing that?

It could be as simple as a bad PCV valve if there is just a little blow-by.
However, if it is bad, the cause is more often broken or badly worn piston rings.
If it pushes your dipstick up and shoots oil out at higher rpm, then you probably need to make rebuild plans.
