axle back exhaust

has anyone thoought about installing an axle back exhaust on thier car? im thinking about trying this.

 

lots of us have axle back exhast or more commenly called tail pipes. i personaly have a fuel cell in the trunk so clearing the gas tank was not a concern on my car. on cars with fuel tank you can run dual tail pipes but the drives side one is very close to the tank and leaf spring. there are lots of pics in the gallery and other posts of tail pipes to give you ideas.

 

by axle-back i ment haveing the mufflers at the very back of the car

 

ah ok. the stock muffler was at the back of the car. its not a problem to do on the passenger side. its the drivers side that you dont have room for it inbetween the leaf spring and fuel tank.

 

would a PYPES M-80 muffler fit......i plan on putiing those on my car...there much smaller than the oe mufflers

 

Nothing will fit on the drivers side. Barely enough room for a tail pipe.

Just put the mufflers under the rear seat like they did in the later cars....then add tailpipes and your done.

 

I,m not sure if 3" pipe will fit rear of axle or not. Torque tech exhaust, classic chamber, an others make powersticks (chambered pipe as 69 chevelles had) 3" max dia. an various lenghts. May have to play some to get sound where you want it. Youtube has some vid,s on this.

We need someone to do this,,, gotta love the sound!
