My winter project is to install a bucket seat LDO interior in my 77 Maverick. I also want to switch the Automatic shifter from the column to the floor. I have the factory floor shifter but I am thinking I would like go with a B&M automatic floor shifter because of the "old school" look. This is a street car only.
Any recommendations from some one who has made this conversion.

i think the factory floor shifter also has hump that is added to the tunnel to mount the shifter to.
ive installed lots of aftermarket shifters in cars and my personal favorite is the pro ratchet. it has a small base and the most solid feeling. installation is straight forward. the aluminum cover for the base can be painted if you dont like the aluminum look.

Thank you Bryant. I did check it out and I also see the "Megashifter" and the "Starshifter".
Anybody have any feed back on these two units from B&M

i dont like the mega shifter because its base is huge an ugly in my personal opinion. the star shifter always has a flimsy feel and still pretty big ugly base. i have probably seen and driven every aftermarket shifter that is available and the pro ratchet has got to be one of the nicest ones. this is only my opinion and im sure others will have other opinions.

I dont know what model exactly it is but my 72 comet has a b&m shifter in it and it SUCKS! theyre cool because they lock in every gear so you dont skip a gear but the dang thing was replaced with a brand new unit less than 2 years ago and the car MIGHT of gotten 500 miles on it before the shifter started giving me problems catching the gears. the little catch lever under the cover wouldnt catch the gear to move the selector mechanism you would have to push down on that little lever to make it catch the piece that actually moved the gears so for that reason I dont like the b&m model I have

on the other hand I love the original floor shifter thats in my comet gt its close to the floor it doesnt have a big goofy race car looking shifter cover it doesnt make alot of noise when you shift it just a little click from the lock engaging. and it looks nice in chrome or black
