Are all of the arm rest bases for the various years of Mavericks made of plastic?

Are there other Fords with the same configuration that are made of metal?

Also, what year did the arm rests become modified with the grab rail upwards?

I am looking for options right now.

I believe most of the arm rest bases were plastic, but some were metal and I believe that they will work fine in place of the plastic ones on the Mavs/Comets. Starting in 73, the arm rests with the grab handle going up were used.

I've never seen a metal one after the mid 60's. I'd say they were all plastic after that.

Oops, my mistake. I was thinking about the chromed plastic ones, not metal.

I found these on eBay and this is actually the second set I saw. The first set had metal bases and were chromed. As the ad states, these were made in 1973 and fit many ford cars. I looked at my plastic bases for my 72 grabber and they have exactly the same configuration. The measurements for the length on the eBay ad I think are incorrect. It would be nice to confirm this as it would allow the use of metal bases instead of plastic ones which are very prone to cracking.
