I guy I know who is selling his Maverick has asked me to find an appraiser. Does anyone know of a company they can rely on? There are several online, but you never know what you've got.
Doug, I am personally a certified appraiser for The Auto Appraisal Group that bmcdaniel mentioned. Of course I'm a little to far away to look at your friends car, but we do have agents all over the U.S. I'm sure we have one fairly close to you. If you have any questions about how our appraisals are done please don't hesitate to ask. http://autoappraisalgroup.com The website will tell you if there is someone close to you.
Thanks. I just emailed the link to him. In fact, there is a location in San Antonio where the car is located.
I bet yours is not nearly as much fun as mine...I get to drive some awesome cars:bananaman :bananaman
Just keep in mind.....an appraisal for "value" (insurance, etc) is different than an appraisal for "what will it sell fior".
appraisal The cost to get you car appraised for insurance purposes $100.00 (just a guess) The feeling of crossing the finish line and knowing you just won....Priceless I just felt like sayin that...Jim The more imports I see...the more I love my maverick
My buddies 70 T/A 340 Six Pack Challenger 4 speed was just apprasied for $64k They sell for 30k to 40k no problem
About 8 months ago I got the opportunity to appraise a 1991 Ferrari F-40 for a rich guy over in Baton Rouge, La. This car had 401 actual miles on it and was a clean as it was the day it came off the show room floor. He had just purchased it from Reggie Jackson and needed it appraised. The appraisal came in at $345,000. He also got me to do his 99 Lamborghini Diablo Momo (1 of 12) while I was there. It was around $275,000. This guy has a collection of about 50 cars and I only put my eyes on 6 of them. I hope to get a call do do more of them later. Here are pics of the two I appraised.
So if I tell you that I live in my car, does that mean you can appraise it?? I can park it in a prime location if it will increase the value of the car/real estate....... Just......you know......thinking out loud here....... which I know is a no-no. Preston
keep the ferrari...i want the Lamborghini...............wow.....i wish i had that job rayzor....tell us please......how do you get into that line of work?
After hearing about the company I simply called them to find out more info. The more I talked to them the more I liked it. It's not a full time job but it's something I love to do. I never imagined getting paid to look at beautiful cars before. I've been appraising for about 1 1/2 years now but I only get about 3-4 a month for this area. Some agents do it full time but they are in the bigger cities. I wish I had enough to do it full time here but I don't so I still run my body shop. The great thing is this is something very easy and enjoyable and I can do it even well after I retire. I also get paid 40 cents a mile for traveling which is great. The only downside is the startup cost to start your agency. You have to pay for the weeklong school and your books and supplies. It takes a little while to recoup that. After you get over that, it's all good. If they don't have somebody in your area, you could be a candidate. Appraising cars is a lot easier than you would think.
Those italian cars are very impressive!! I've often wondered what it would be like to appraise cars, appraising homes is a very difficult job since there are no two homes exactly alike! The highest priced home that I have appraised was 5.5 million and it was built locally.
