I have three bellhousings that I no longer need, but I don't have anything to ID them, was hoping that someone on the Mav/Comet forum would pehaps have the info I seek.

The first is an aluminum Ford C5TA-8994-A

The second is a fully polished aluminum bell housing that is the same engine family as the C5TA, but has different transmission mounting holes. I suspect it's an original Tremec bell housing. There are no identifying numbers on it.

The third, and last, is a steel Ford D9ZC-6394-BA.

I need help figuring out what they are, and if you care to chime in, what they are worth on the market right now.

I have pics, but they are too large for this site, so if you need them, contact me at cj428cougar@yahoo.com and I'll be glad to send photos to you.

Thanks in advance for your help. Will be doing the same thing in the next week for 4 blocks/engines that are also taking up space in my garage.

If the first two have three starter bolt holes, they're FE engine family bells. If two holes, they're small block bells. The D9ZC is an SROD bell, same one used later for the Tremec 5 speed with an updated casting number.

Thanks, but need one more thing answered...

The two smaller housings are 2 bolt starters, so small block right?? 302/351W.

The larger one...I don't know what SROD is. Ignorance is bliss and I guess I'm really happy :bouncy: Can you educate me quickly...what engine family is that housing for??

Does anyone have any idea what any of these three is worth (fair price) on the market, or is there even a market for them??

Thanks again, appreciate you taking the time to respond.

The two 60's bells? About $30 each. They'll fit 66 & up 289/302/351W & 351C's. The one with the oddball transmission bolt pattern may only fit pre 65 221/260 & 289's with the 5 bolt bell to block bolt pattern. Compare that aspect to the other two to see. The SROD bell will fetch at least $75. SROD = Single Rail OverDrive. This was an all aluminum cased overdrive version of the old Toploader 4 speed with a fully enclosed shifter mechanism (thus the Single Rail part of the name) It doesn't work with pre 79 transmissions due to it's being deeper for the longer input shaft of the SROD and Tremec transmissions.

The rare bellhousing is C3. The wide bolt patteren Toploader came out in '65. I can't find 8994 in the Ford Cars parts catalog...bellhousings have 6392 and 6394. The T in the part number tells me it is a truck part. Maybe this is why 8994 is not showing up in my books.

Yea, I'm also running on supposition due to the fact he hasn't podted pics of either. In addition, the bell for the BW T-10 has a different pilot hole for the input retainer too (not 100% on this, but I've heard that somewhere)

I believe they are for manual transmissions.

This is true. When I swapped from a T-10 to a Toploader I had to machine about 1/8" off the Toploader retaining bearing to fit my C3 bellhousing.

The "T" bells are most likely 164 tooth bells.
